Pupils have been busy on the farm this week cleaning in and around the barns in preparation for the animals to go in at night throughout the winter months. They have also been very busy cleaning out the fish tank and the dragon and snake vivariums. Y8 pupils have also enjoyed bathing the guinea pigs and shampooing and grooming the pony.
We also had toast donations from the canteen for the alpacas and many pumpkin donations following Halloween, which Mabel enjoyed as an extra special treat.
Farm club is very popular amongst our pupils and it is lovely to see so many of them enjoying it week on week.
Thursday 31st October was grand opening of our brand new 3G Astroturf!
We were delighted to welcome Stockport County FC Manager, Dave Challinor, Club Secretary Jane Morley, representatives from the Football Foundation, Manchester SA, Stockport Council and former Reddish Vale PE staff.
Following the meet and greet with football team captains and vice captains, precession, ribbon-cutting ceremony and speeches, the Years 7, 8, 9 and Girl’s football teams all had the opportunity to use the Astroturf for the very first time.
A massive thank you to all of our special guests for sharing this special event with us.
Please take the time to read this half term's Headteacher's bulletin, which includes news, events and information from this half term.
You can find the bulletin attached below.
The Year 8 allotment project is coming along well. Pupils have been helping to make the perimeter from bricks and old flags and have rotated the top soil in preparation for some sowing next half term.
Also, some old off cuts were used to make a sturdy little table/footstool. All the work of sawing, drilling, screwdriving, painting etc is the work of our pupils.
Finally, the guinea pigs have been able to enjoy a rare bit of October sunshine.
Farm club places are fully subscribed and a group of Y8 pupils are in the early stages of creating an allotment behind the science block.
In July the farm took on a new project to build a hay trough for the goats and it is finally finished. It was a collaborative effort by all farm groups and made from 100% recycled materials.
Inclusion pupils have also done a great job refitting the overall hangers, doubling the capacity by staggering the hooks for everybody to reach.
Many pupils and staff have asked how Dotty the goat is doing after discovering that she lost a horn on Tuesday morning. The Y8 farm club pupils rallied into action and were extremely helpful, separating Dotty from the other goats and bringing supplies to help treat her wound. A quick call to the vets told us that she will be fine so long as we look after her - she is lively and has a great appetite as usual!
Following the Ofsted report, if you would like to discuss further any of the issues raised in the report or supporting letters, Mr Moroney, senior leaders, the CEO and Chair of the Trust will be hosting a drop-in session here at Reddish Vale High School tomorrow, Thursday 12th September 2024 between 3.30pm and 7pm.
Thank you for joining us for our Open Evening. It was lovely to see over 200 families in attendance. We hope those who attended were able to see our excellent facilities, speak to our dedicated staff and pupils, and found the evening informative, helpful and entertaining.
Thank you for your positive feedback regarding Open Evening. It is wonderful to hear that "the event was fun, welcoming, informative" and "all the students were lovely, very friendly, as were the staff."
Don't forget that the deadline for Year 7 applications for September 2025 is 31st October 2024 and applications should be made through Stockport Council.
In order to avoid large groups gathering whilst we have building work taking place, we would like students to collect their results in 15 minute intervals.
Students should come to reception at the allotted time below according to their surname.
Please find the summer Newsletter below, which includes news and events from this term, as well as a message from Ms Earle, our CEO and Mr Moroney, our Acting Headteacher.
